MabThera MoA

MabThera eradicates lymphoma cells via the CD20 receptor and multiple mechanisms, including complement-mediated cytotoxicity (CDC), antibody-dependent cytotoxicity (ADCC) and apoptosis.

  • MabThera directly binds to the C1q complement factor, initiating complement-mediated lysis of circulating B-cells4.
  • Additionally, MabThera binds strongly to Fc receptors on human effector cells, such as macrophages and natural killer cells, inducing ADCC to destroy lymphoma cells2.
  • Furthermore, MabThera demonstrates an effect on the proliferation and differentiation of malignant lymphoid cells, and cell cycle regulation1,3,5,6, as well as inducing apoptosis, or programmed cell death, in vitro2.
