Follicular Lymphoma International Prognostic Index (FLIPI)

A separate system, the FLIPI, has been developed to categorise patients with FL into groups with good, intermediate or poor prognosis. The FLIPI is based on a retrospective analysis of data from over 4,167 patients with indolent NHL, with a follow up of at least 5 years2. The model was refined to incorporate the following five predictive variables in the FLIPI index:

  • 5 nodal sites
  • Abnormal LDH
  • Age 60 versus > 60 years
  • Ann Arbor stage 3/4
  • Haemoglobin <12 mg/dL

While the FLIPI was originally devised based on an analysis of chemotherapy treated patients, its application has now also been demonstrated for indolent patients receiving immunochemotherapy1.
